OK, so I LOVED Iwan and Clementine. The concept of a magical apartment that can take you back in time and make you fall in love seemed pretty far-fetched. I do love some magical realism and even fantasy, but it seemed like a pretty cheesy premise to me. Boy, I'm glad I was wrong.
I appreciated the interweaving of grief into the story, as Clementine struggled with the loss of her cherished and quirky aunt Analea. Grief is tricky in love stories. If you focus too much on it, it distorts the romance. However, the interweaving of it was just enough to make your heartstrings weep, but the romance was sweet and wonderful. And oh em gee, the FOOD descriptions! Iwan being a blossoming chef, was one of my favorite parts. And how Clementine brought him back to himself at the end was touching. This book was just pure magic, the characters pure magic, and the story was perfection.
